Climate-Ready Woodlands: iNatualist Verifier

About the project

Minnesota’s climate is shifting. Our forests are getting warmer and wetter, changing the habitat suitability for species in regions across the state.

Climate scientists with the USDA Forest Service have identified a number of species with the potential to migrate into new ranges as the climate continues to change. We are asking volunteers to become Tree Trackers to help find, identify and report these trees to iNaturalist. The response to the Tree Trackers call for volunteers has been amazing and now we need help with iNaturalist verifications.

If you are interested in learning more about trees, or are interested in becoming an expert on a single tree or group of trees  like oaks, hickories or elms this could be for you. This iNat verification volunteer activity is done entirely online and could be a good fit for volunteers with limited mobility. This is also a great rainy day project.
